City of Wheaton Fine & Cultural Arts Commission met May 24.

Here are the minutes provided by the commission:

I. Call to Order

President Mike Bock called the meeting to order at 6:02 p.m.

Those present: Mike Bock, Dee Hicks Laurie Oberhelman , Randy King and Sarah Antas.

II. Approval of agenda

Mike Bock moved and Laurie Oberhelman seconded the approval of the agenda. Motion approved by unanimous voice vote.

III. Public Comments

N/C

IV. Approval of Minutes

V. Laurie Oberhelman moved and Sarah Antas seconded the approval of the minutes of April 12. Motion approved by unanimous voice vote.

VI. New Business

Appointment of new Commissioner: The Mayor appointed Randy King as our commissioner for the next term. We discussed the procedure of future Commission appointments and would encourage a discussion with the Mayor about how to proceed in future when selecting a position on the Commission. Mike will invite the Mayor to attend a future meeting and form a process which we can follow in the future.

VII. Old Business

Kathy Young: We will consider plaque acknowledging her contributions to Commission.

Art Calendar: DuPage Community Foundation has started this process. Need to learn more about procedure.

International Day of Music: Scheduled for October 1 at the band shell. Awaiting confirmation of availability of venue before contacting choirs.

Lock Project: Tabled until future meeting.

Chamber of Commerce has formed a new Committee called Art Business and Culture Committee: Mike Dyer from the Chamber has invited our group to join their meeting on May 25.

Laurie Oberhelman moved and Mike Bock seconded that we adjourn at 6:56. Motion approved by unanimous voice vote.
