Village of Cherry Valley Recreation Board met June 1.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

Chairman Jill Wedig called the meeting to order at 7:03 PM. A Roll Call was taken by Deputy Village Clerk, Heather Riley:

Others Present: Village President David Schroeder, Village Administrator Jim E. Claeyssen, Trustee Brandi Pearse, Sergeant Jesse Pearse and Deputy Clerk Heather Riley.

ADOPT THE AGENDA:

Jill Wedig stated that she is amending the agenda to add item #4 under UNFINISHED BUSINESS: #5 Art on Fire and #6 Street Dance Sue Smetana seconded. All “AYE;” None opposed. Motion carried by voice vote.

APPROVE THE MINUTES:

Jill Wedig moved to approve the minutes from the May 4, 2022 meeting. Tori Schroeder seconded. All “Aye;” None opposed. Motion carried by voice vote.

PUBLIC COMMENT: None.

EX-OFFICIO’S REPORT: No Report.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS:

1. Pickle Ball Tournament – Scott Kramer gave a presentation on his thoughts on how the Recreation Board could host a pickle ball tournament that he would be willing to run. Tentative date for this tournament will be August 27, 2022 beginning at 9:00 AM, with a rain date of August 28, 2022. Scott Kramer stated that he has a suggestion for an entry fee “donation” to go specifically towards a wind screen for the pickle ball courts. See “Royal Court Pickleball Tournament” for how this tournament would work attached below.

2. Fun Run/Walk at Baumann Park (May 21, 2022) – Tori Schroeder reported that 38 people registered online, with an additional 12 people who walked in and wanted to participate.

3. Citizen of the Year – The citizen of the year celebration will be at the June 7, 2022 Village Board meeting. Jill Wedig will be present to help set up and serve the bundtini’s and water and be to help clean up afterwards.

4. 4th of July Parade - Jill Wedig moved to request up to $850.00 for the 4th of July Parade. Tori Schroeder seconded. All “AYE;” None opposed. Motion carried by voice vote. Jill Wedig will buy candy for the parade from Sam’s Club. Tori Schroeder will reach out to Cattle & Cream to see if they want to allow the committee to had out “coupons” and have Cattle & Cream turn in a tally of how many people turned in a coupon for ice cream. Dina Brandt will pick up fifteen (15) $5.00 gift cards from DQ to hand out to the anything with wheels winners.

5. Art on Fire – Sergeant Pearse stated that the post on Facebook advertising for Art on Fire went live today, June 1, 2022. June 26th is when painting can begin.

6. Street Dance – The Street Dance will be held on Saturday July 16, 2022, from 6:30 – 10:30 PM. Jill Wedig purchased two (2) zero gravity chairs and a vertical smoker as door prizes for the Street Dance.

NEW BUSINESS:

1. Additional Recreation Board Meeting June 29, 2022 – Reminder that there is an additional recreation board meeting at the end of June

2. T-Shirts for Recreational Board Members – Discussion was had regarding rec board having a t-shirt that makes them stand out so when residents have a question at an event, they know who they can ask. Jill Wedig has been instructed to get t-shirts for all of the members. Jill Wedig will send out a group text message to collect the sizes needed.

ADJOURNMENT: Jill Wedig moved to adjourn the meeting at 7:59 PM. Tori Schroeder seconded. All “Aye;” None opposed. Motion carried by voice vote.
