About the crime:
This alert gives notice to residents in the 9th District (Deering) of armed robbery/vehicular hijacking incidents which have occurred during the month of December. In these incidents, a group of 3-4 male offenders brandish a handgun as they approach the victims and take their property.
Incident times and locations
- 1100 block of W. 31st St. on December 11, 2022 at 8:14 a.m.
- 1100 block of W. 31st St. on December 11, 2022 at 8:16 a.m.
In JF506182, the offenders are described as four (4) Black males, 17-21 years old,
5’9”-5’10”, 140-170 lbs., wearing dark clothing.
In JF506186, the offenders are described as three (3) Black males, 17-21 years old,
5’9”-5’10”, 140-170 lbs., wearing dark clothing.
What you can do:
- Always be aware of your surroundings.
- Report suspicious activity immediately.
- If you are confronted by an assailant remain calm.
- Remember any unique physical characteristics (scars, limp, acne, teeth, etc.)
- Never pursue a fleeing assailant; provide the information to the police.
- If video surveillance is present, save a copy of the incident for detectives.
- If approached by a witness to the incident, request contact information.
- Dial 9-1-1 immediately and remain on scene when possible.
- Do NOT leave keys in your vehicle with the vehicle running.
