This alert gives notice of recent Motor Vehicle Thefts and Attempted Motor Vehicle Thefts on beat 2232. The vehicles are predominately made by KIA and Hyundai and occurring all around beat 2232. This is a citywide issue where offenders are breaking a window, peeling off the steering column, and starting the vehicle, as demonstrated on social media.

What you can do:
• Never leave your car unattended while it is running
• Secure your vehicle in locked garage
• Consider installing an alarm system in your vehicle
• The use of GPS tracking location systems could lead to a speedy recovery of a stolen vehicle
• Call 911 immediately and provide a detailed description of any suspicious people including any vehicle description and license plate information.
• Use anti-theft steering wheel locking devices.
