About the crime:

This alert gives notice to residents of the 8th District (Chicago Lawn) of an increase in Burglary related incidents during the month of January. In these incidents, the unknown offender(s) force entry into a residence and remove property from within.

Incident times and locations:

• 5200 block of S. Normandy on January 1 at approximately 5 p.m.
•  5600 block of S. Mobile on January 7 at approximately 8 a.m.
•  5300 block of S. Mason on January 10 at approximately 2 p.m.
•  6000 block of W. 60th Street on January 10 at approximately 1:36 p.m.
•  6800 block of W. 60th Place on January 15 at approximately 7 a.m.
•  5400 block of S. Newland on January 17 at approximately 4:04 a.m.
•  5400 block of S. Melvina on January 17 at approximately 6:55 a.m.
•  5300 block of S. Neenah on January 17 at approximately 5:40 p.m.

About the offenders:

•  In JG-111127: (3) Male/ White-Hispanic, 30-40 years old, 5'6”-5'8”, 160-180lbs.
•  In JG-118001: (2) Male/ White-Hispanics, 25-50 years old, 5'10”- 6'2”, 180-210 lbs. and (1) Male/ White-Hispanic, 30-40 years old, 5'3”-5'6”, 130-140 lbs.
•  In JG-119925: (4) Male/Unknowns

What you can do:

•  Keep the perimeter of your property well-lit.
•  Report suspicious activity immediately.
•  Keep doors and windows secured.
•  Immediately repair any broken windows, doors or locks.
•  If video surveillance is available, save a copy of the incident for detectives.
•  If you are a victim, do not touch anything; call police immediately
•  If approached by a witness to the incident, request contact information.
