About the Crime:
This alert gives notice to citizens in the 8th District (Chicago Lawn) of recent Armed Robbery incidents. In each incident, the victim shows up to a location to purchase a motorcycle or bike which has been advertised for sale on a social media site. Upon arrival, offenders approach the victims and display a handgun before taking their money and/or cell phones. These incidents have occurred in the general geographical locations listed below:
Incident times and locations:
- 6100 block of S. Campbell on January 28, 2023 at 4:45 A.M.
- 6100 block of S. Campbell on February 12, 2023 at 6:11 P.M.
The offenders are described as 3 to 4 African-American males 16-28 years of age, wearing dark clothing.
What you can do:
- Always be aware of your surroundings
- Report suspicious activity immediately
- If you are confronted by an assailant remain calm
- Remember any unique physical characteristics (scars, limp, acne, teeth, etc.)
- Never pursue a fleeing assailant, provide the information to the police
- If approached by a witness to the incident, request contact information
- Dial 9-1-1 immediately and remain on scene when possible
