For Women's History Month, CSU honors Olugbemisola Olawumi, a notable CSU alumna, Nigerian baker and the Rising Bread Queen of Chicago.
Olawumi opened her own store, Joba Foods and Bakery, where she sells Nigerian meat pies and large, pillowy-soft, fresh agege bread.
Her journey started through trial and error and using her home kitchen as her R&D space.
Olawumi gained her lab experience while studying at Chicago State University.
By customizing her ingredients to match West Africa and the United States and some help from her baker contacts in Nigeria, she earned the title of the Rising Bread Queen of Chicago.
