About the Crime:

This alert gives notice to citizens in the 002nd District (Wentworth) of recent robbery incidents. In these incidents, a male offender approached a male victim that was walking on the public way. The offender displayed a black handgun and demanded the victim's money. The offender took the victim's property and then fled the scene on foot. These robberies have occurred in the general geographical locations listed below:

Incident times and locations:

•  4700 block of south Michigan Ave. on March 20, 2023 at 1:00 A.M.
•  5000 block of south Prairie Ave. on March 20, 2023 at 2:30 P.M.
•  4800 block of south Michigan Ave. on March 22, 2023 at 9:00 A.M.

About the offenders:

•  The offender is described as an African-American male, between 20-21 years of age, 5'10-6'00 in height, 160 lbs, with short black hair.

What you can do:

•  Always be aware of your surroundings
•  Report suspicious activity immediately
•  If you are confronted by an assailant remain calm
•  Remember any unique physical characteristics (scars, limp, acne, teeth, etc.)
•  Never pursue a fleeing assailant, provide the information to the police
•  If approached by a witness to the incident, request contact information
•  Dial 9-1-1 immediately and remain on scene when possible
