Of the 30 prominent prosecutors supported by liberal billionaire George Soros, Cook County’s Kim Foxx is “probably the most famous,” writes Parker Thayer of the Capital Research Center (CRC), the Washington D.C.-based government oversight group.

In a recent story listing the prosecutors and their connections to Soros, Thayer notes that Foxx "was boosted into office with the help of $2 million in Soros cash."

“Foxx has most recently been in the news for potential ethics violations in her 2019 decision to drop charges against Jussie Smollett for his infamous hate crime hoax,” he writes. “Foxx has also made headlines for presiding over Chicago’s largest spike in homicides in more than 30 years while her office dropped charges against 30 percent of felony defendants during 2020.”

In one infamous example, Foxx’s office last November reversed its opposition to the granting of Certificates of Innocence (COI) to two convicted -- Gabriel Solache and Arturo Reyes -- of the 1998 murders of a husband and wife, and the kidnapping of their children. Presenting a COI in a civil court case is a near guarantee of an eventual cash award in a wrongful conviction claim.

A motion filed in federal court by city attorneys noted that Foxx’s office earlier opposed the COIs, with one former assistant State’s Attorney Eric Sussman telling CBS Chicago when the charges were dropped: “There is no doubt in my mind, or the mind of anyone who has worked on this case, that Mr. Solache and Mr. Reyes are guilty of these crimes. It is a tragic day for justice in Cook County.”

The attorneys are trying to get to the bottom of why the prosecutor’s office reversed itself in the case. Their motion is asking for reopening discovery in the COI cases of Gabriel Solache and Arturo Reyes to see all “communications between the CCSAO (State’s Attorney) and third parties including Plaintiffs, their counsel and other advocates on topics relating to Solache’s and Reyes’s COIs.”

In all, George Soros has spent $40 million “getting left district attorney, officials elected all over the country,” the New York Post recently reported.

“George Soros is the most dangerous man in America,” the report said. “The investor is intent on remaking the country to his liberal image, from our foreign policy priorities to undermining our criminal justice system.”
