The Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) has issued a reminder to the public regarding upcoming traffic impacts due to ongoing projects on North and South DuSable Lake Shore Drive. Starting next week, drivers should prepare for the following lane closures:
South DuSable Lake Shore Drive – 31st Street to Roosevelt Road
From May 20 to 24 and on May 28, southbound lane closures will be in effect. Two lanes will be closed from 4 p.m. to 9 a.m. daily; three lanes will be closed during daytime working hours between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
All lanes will reopen by early Saturday, May 25 for the Memorial Day weekend. Lane closures will resume on Tuesday, May 28.
North DuSable Lake Shore Drive – Hollywood Avenue to LaSalle Drive
From May 20 to May 24, southbound lane closures will be in effect. Two lanes will be closed from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily. One lane will remain closed continuously throughout the week.
All lanes will reopen for Memorial Day weekend.
Please note that lane closure schedules and work timings are subject to change due to weather conditions or other unforeseen circumstances.
CDOT advises drivers to plan ahead and allow extra time when traveling on DLSD, take alternate routes if possible, and encourages people to use public transportation. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to flaggers and construction signage when entering and driving near work zones, obey posted speed limits, drive with extra caution, and be alert for workers and equipment.
