North DuSable Lake Shore Drive resurfacing prompts multiple closures starting September end

The Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) has announced upcoming traffic impacts due to the ongoing resurfacing of North DuSable Lake Shore Drive between LaSalle Drive and Hollywood Avenue. The work will require temporary full closures of all lanes in certain sections, starting on Sunday evening, September 29th. The project is expected to be completed by late October.

The schedule for the week of September 29th is as follows, subject to weather changes:

- Through Sunday night: The southbound left lane will remain closed between Irving Park and Diversey.

- Sunday, September 29th: Starting at 6:00 p.m., all southbound lanes will be closed between Irving Park Road and Fullerton Avenue. This includes closing all entrance and exit ramps within this section. All southbound vehicles will detour via Inner DLSD, Sheridan Road, and Cannon Drive. Lanes will reopen by 6:00 a.m. the following morning.

- Monday, September 30th: Beginning at 7:00 p.m., northbound DLSD will be reduced to one lane between Lawrence Avenue and Hollywood Avenue with ramps remaining open. At 9:00 p.m., all northbound lanes between Lawrence Avenue and Hollywood Avenue will close along with all entrance and exit ramps in this section. The northbound exit ramp at Lawrence Avenue will stay open for detours. Lanes reopen by 7:00 a.m.

- Tuesday, October 1st: From 7:00 p.m., both directions of DLSD will reduce to one lane between Hollywood Avenue and Foster Avenue with ramps open. At 9:00 p.m., northbound lanes between Bryn Mawr Avenue and Hollywood Avenue, as well as southbound lanes from Hollywood Avenue to Foster Avenue, will close including the southbound entrance ramp at Bryn Mawr Avenue. Detours remain available via the Bryn Mawr exit ramp for northbound traffic and Foster entrance ramp for southbound traffic. Lanes reopen by 6:00 a.m.

- Wednesday, October 2nd: Starting at 7:00 p.m., southbound DLSD reduces to one lane from Hollywood Avenue to Lawrence Avenue with ramps open. At 9:00 p.m., all southbound lanes from Hollywood Ave to Lawrence Ave close including all entrance/exit ramps within this section except for the Lawrence Ave entrance ramp which remains open for detours. Lanes reopen by 6:00 a.m.

- Thursday, October 3rd: From 7:00 p.m., southbound DLSD reduces to one lane from Irving Park Road to Fullerton Ave with ramps remaining open; at 9:00 p.m., all southbound lanes close including associated entrances/exits within this stretch until reopening by Friday morning at 6 a.m.

CDOT advises drivers to plan ahead allowing extra travel time while paying attention to flaggers/construction signage near work zones obeying posted speed limits staying alert for workers/equipment.
