The Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) has announced updates on traffic disruptions due to the resurfacing project on North DuSable Lake Shore Drive, stretching from LaSalle Drive to Hollywood Avenue. This work will necessitate temporary full closures of all lanes where construction is underway, starting Sunday afternoon, October 6th. The project is expected to conclude by late October.

For the week beginning October 6th, the following schedule has been outlined, subject to weather conditions:

On Sunday, October 6th, southbound lanes will close at 5:00 p.m. between Irving Park Road and LaSalle Drive. This closure includes all entrance and exit ramps within this section. Southbound vehicles will be redirected via Inner DLSD, Sheridan Road, and Cannon Drive to LaSalle Drive. Lanes are scheduled to reopen by 6:00 a.m. the next day.

Monday through Thursday evenings from October 7th to 10th will see southbound DLSD reduced to one lane between Irving Park Road and LaSalle Drive starting at 7:00 p.m., with ramps remaining open. Additionally, both northbound and southbound DLSD will be limited to one lane between Hollywood Avenue and Lawrence Avenue during these times. Full southbound closures from Irving Park Road to LaSalle Drive will commence at 9:00 p.m., with detours in place via Inner Lake Shore Drive, Sheridan Road, and Cannon Drive until reopening at 6:00 a.m.

On Friday morning, October 11th, any closures initiated Thursday night are set to reopen by 6:00 a.m.

CDOT advises drivers to plan ahead for potential delays and exercise caution near construction zones. Motorists should adhere to speed limits and follow instructions from flaggers and signage for safety.

Further updates on lane closures will be communicated as necessary throughout the project's duration. For ongoing information regarding traffic impacts, visit chicago.gov/CDOT.
