Village of Cherry Valley Recreation Board met Sept. 4

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

Tori Schroeder called the meeting to order at 6:02 PM. Deputy Village Clerk Heather Riley took a Roll Call:

CHAIRMAN: TORI SCHROEDER PRESENT

Others Present: Trustee Brandi Pearse, Police Sergeant Jesse Pearse, Village Administrator Jim Claeyssen, and Deputy Village Clerk Heather Riley.

ADOPT THE AGENDA:

Tori Schroeder moved to adopt the agenda. Judy Prisby seconded. All “AYE” None opposed.

Motion carried by voice vote.

APPROVE THE MINUTES:

Tori Schroeder moved to approve the minutes from the July 31, 2024 Meeting. Kayla Spencer seconded. All “AYE” None opposed. Motion carried by voice vote.

PUBLIC COMMENT: None.

EX-OFFICIO’S REPORT: None.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS:

1. Art on Fire/National Night Out – Sergeant Pearse stated that National Night Out went very well and the weather was perfect. Sergeant Pearse stated that he did not receive a single complaint this year.

NEW BUSINESS:

1. Scarecrow on Parade – The light post by the Clock downtown has been reserved for the Village. Tori, Kayla and Dina will get together and put the scarecrow up. This year’s theme is “Transform the Library” and the committee is thinking of doing a butterfly coming out of a cocoon. Voting goes through October 31st and will not be announced at the Halloween event this year.

2. Fall Festival Volunteers – The 2nd annual Fall Festival is going to be on September 21st from 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM. Volunteers are needed to help with setting up and different activities. Dan Jarocki and Kayla Spencer volunteered to help with the Fall Festival.

3. Youth Fall Fishing (October 5th) – Tori Schroder moved to request up to $300.00 for the Youth Fall Fishing Tournament. Dan Jarocki seconded. All “AYE” None opposed.

Motion carried by voice vote. Kayla Spencer has volunteered to help with the fishing tournament. The tournament will be from 10:00 AM – Noon.

4. Halloween Decoration Contest – Tori Schroeder moved to request up to $1000.00 for the Decoration Contest and Halloween Event. Dan Jarocki seconded. All “AYE” None opposed. Motion carried by voice vote. Judy Prisby will pick up five $25.00 gift cards from Menards for the decoration winners. Winners will be announced at the Halloween event.

5. Halloween Event (October 26th) – Trunk or Treating will be done in the municipal parking lot like it was last year. The parade will go from Old School Park to the Baseball Diamond at Baumann Park, costume judging will occur at the end of the parade before the parking lot is opened up for Trunk or Treating. Tori will email the downtown business group and let them know that they can participate in Trunk or Treating. Dina will pick up ten $5.00 Cattle & Cream gift cards for the costume winners.

6. Santa Event Venue – The Admin Department has rented The Bricks Venue Center for this year’s Santa event since there will be ongoing construction at the Granary at Village Hall for the Well #7 project.

ADJOURNMENT: Tori Schroeder moved to adjourn the meeting at 6:28 PM. Judy Prisby seconded. All “AYE” None opposed. Motion carried by voice vote.
