The former Engine Co. #127 firehouse in Clearing is set to be sold and transformed into a private single-family residence. This proposal was presented to the City Council by Mayor Brandon Johnson.

Situated at 6411 S. Central Ave., the building spans 4,064 square feet and would be sold for its appraised value of $65,000 to Matthew Skowronski and Kathryn McIlvain. The couple plans to invest approximately $305,000 in improvements to convert the interior into a three-bedroom home with a garage.

The building, which is over a century old, ceased functioning as a firehouse in the early 1990s.
