Jan Schakowsky, a long-serving member of the U.S. Congress representing Illinois' 9th district, has recently voiced her concerns through a series of tweets regarding the Trump administration's economic policies and actions by Elon Musk. Her posts reflect on issues such as tax cuts for billionaires, consumer protection under the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), and privacy concerns related to Musk's activities.

On February 4, 2025, Schakowsky criticized the Trump administration for its economic policies, stating that "The Trump administration is prioritizing tax cuts for billionaires at the expense of raising costs for everyone else." She praised Lina Khan's leadership at the FTC for consistently delivering consumer benefits by lowering costs and fostering a competitive economy.

Later that day, Schakowsky addressed concerns about Elon Musk's influence and actions. She tweeted that "Billionaire Elon Musk wasn’t elected by the American people." She accused him of illegally accessing private information and attempting to control decisions regarding Social Security and Medicare. Schakowsky mentioned her presence at the Treasury Department to demand action against these perceived overreaches.

On February 5, 2025, Schakowsky visited a Shore Community Service home where she spoke with mothers whose sons depend on Medicaid. In her tweet, she warned that if Trump's tax policies favoring billionaires continue, it could jeopardize essential care for millions relying on Medicaid. She emphasized that "Lives are more important than tax cuts."
