Jan Schakowsky, a long-serving member of the U.S. Congress representing Illinois' 9th district, recently addressed several issues through her social media platform. Known for her advocacy in consumer protection and transparency, Schakowsky's recent posts reflect her ongoing legislative efforts and political stance.

On February 21, 2025, Schakowsky announced the introduction of a bill aimed at enhancing transparency in ticket sales. She stated, "Our bill requires all event ticket sellers to display the total ticket price—including all required fees—upfront, provide refunds for canceled or postponed events, and protect consumers from deceptive ticketing websites." The congresswoman emphasized the importance of consumer protection in the ticketing industry.

In another post on the same day, Schakowsky highlighted issues within the entertainment industry regarding ticketing practices. She mentioned specific instances that have frustrated fans, saying "With every ticketing debacle, from Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour to Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter tour, fans' frustration grows." She also noted her collaboration with Representative Gus Bilirakis to reintroduce a bipartisan bill aimed at improving transparency.

Later that day, Schakowsky criticized former President Donald Trump for actions she believes undermine public health safety. In a pointed statement about staffing decisions at the FDA, she remarked "Trump promised to 'Make America Healthy Again.' How is that supposed to happen if he’s firing staff at the FDA who work to ensure the chemicals in our food are safe to eat?" Schakowsky accused both Trump and Elon Musk of endangering American lives for financial gain.
