Jan Schakowsky, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Illinois’ 9th district, shared a series of tweets addressing her concerns about policies under the Trump administration. Schakowsky has been serving in Congress since 1999 after replacing Sidney R. Yates and has a history of political service including roles in the Illinois House of Representatives and the Cook County Board of Commissioners.

In her first tweet dated March 5, 2025, Schakowsky urged Americans to examine graphs that she claims reveal "the reality of the Trump administration" regarding economic policies. She criticized what she perceives as tax hikes for lower-income individuals alongside tax cuts for wealthier citizens. "I encourage every American to take a look at these graphs. This is the reality of the Trump administration. Tax hikes for the poor and tax cuts for the rich.#JointAddress"

In another post on March 5, 2025, Schakowsky expressed disapproval over Trump's decision to withdraw from the Paris Climate Agreement. She warned that this action could lead to increased costs for Americans while exacerbating climate change impacts. Schakowsky criticized Trump's focus on cultural conflicts over substantive policy issues: "Trump’s withdrawal from the Paris Climate Agreement will increase prices for Americans and expose us to more of the devastating impacts of climate change."

Later on March 5, 2025, Schakowsky addressed transgender rights, asserting their importance as human rights while criticizing Trump's actions affecting civil protections and healthcare access for transgender individuals. She reiterated her commitment to supporting her transgender constituents' rights: "Trans rights are human rights... To my trans constituents, I won't stop fighting to ensure that you can live freely and authentically."
