FOIA Request to Illinois Lieutenant Governor's Office Regarding State Agency Contracts with Vendors on March 24, 2025.
As part of our ongoing commitment to transparency and accountability in government, Chicago City Wire has submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the Illinois Lieutenant Governor's Office. Our request seeks detailed documentation and information concerning the fulfillment of contractual obligations for all contracts executed or modified between this state agency and their vendors during January of the 2023 fiscal year.
Specifically, we are requesting records that verify the scope of work performed, deliverables completed, and any reports or evaluations related to these contracts. Access to these public records is crucial for us as a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive news coverage on local governmental affairs. It enables us to hold public institutions accountable and provide transparency to the public.
We have also requested a fee waiver for this information, given our role in disseminating news and our affiliation with The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy. This non-profit organization assists media companies and advocacy groups in investigating governmental agencies by leveraging Freedom of Information and Sunshine Laws.
