FOIA Request to Illinois State Lottery Regarding State Agency Contracts with Vendors on March 24, 2025.
As part of our ongoing commitment to transparency and accountability in governmental affairs, Chicago City Wire has submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the Illinois State Lottery. Our request seeks detailed documentation and records concerning the fulfillment of contractual obligations for all contracts executed or modified between this state agency and their vendors during January of the 2023 fiscal year.
Specifically, we are requesting access to records that verify the scope of work performed, deliverables completed, and any reports or evaluations related to these contracts. As members of the media, we believe that access to public records is essential for fulfilling our professional responsibilities, which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
In support of our mission, we have requested a fee waiver as media professionals. Additionally, we are affiliated with The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting news media companies and public advocacy groups in investigating state and federal governmental agencies. This coalition leverages Freedom of Information and Sunshine Laws to shed light on government actions and inform the American electorate.
