Congresswoman Delia C. Ramirez, representing Illinois’ 3rd district in the U.S. Congress, has publicly expressed her concerns regarding the Trump Administration's actions. Having assumed office in 2023 after succeeding Marie Newman, Ramirez has been vocal about democratic processes and civil liberties.
On March 26, 2025, Ramirez voiced concern about the Trump administration’s conduct on social media. Referring to historical precedents, she asserted that "The Trump Administration is operating by the authoritarian playbook. History has shown us where their path - unchallenged - leads. We must be clear: Trump is attempting to end free and fair elections in our nation."
Further, in another message on the same day, Ramirez highlighted the potential consequences if democratic processes were compromised. She stated that "If they succeed and only certain people vote and only certain votes are counted, America will no longer be able to claim free and fair elections and a healthy democracy."
Ramirez also drew attention to alleged civil rights violations by the administration, mentioning the detention of a student named Rumeysa. She urged Congress to investigate these actions, saying "Trump is abducting students who dare to exercise their first amendment rights. Release Rumeysa! Congress must investigate the Trump administration's vile and unconstitutional campaign to violate our constitutional rights, punish resistance, and silence those who dare to dissent."
