Mayor Brandon Johnson has announced the 4th annual My CHI. My Future. Teen Bash at Chicago's Navy Pier. This event, scheduled for March 29, is targeted at young people between the ages of 13 and 19 and is organized in partnership with the Chicago Park District and the Department of Family and Support Services (DFSS).
Mayor Johnson emphasized the importance of such initiatives, stating, "Out of all the investments we have fought for, it is our investments in our young people that I am most proud of because I know they will have the biggest impact." He added that the event aims to connect young people with resources and engaging activities.
The event will feature a Teen Resource Expo between 12:00 and 2:00 PM, offering a platform for teens to explore various resources, leadership programs, and job opportunities. The Teen Bash, running from 1:00 to 4:00 PM, promises a lively atmosphere with performances, DJs, video games, art activities, and more.
Maura McCauley, acting commissioner of DFSS, expressed her enthusiasm about the event, saying, "DFSS is excited to partner again on the Teen Bash event. We are committed to providing safe spaces and resources for young people, and this is going to be a fantastic time for Chicago’s youth."
The Teen Bash's popularity has been increasing over the years, with attendance rising from 500 in 2022 to over 1,200 in the previous year. An attendance of 1,000 to 1,500 is expected this year. The attendees will also have the chance to win tickets to popular events such as Chicago Fire and Chicago Sky games, NASCAR Street Race, and Lollapalooza.
The event, held at Navy Pier’s Aon Ballroom, is already sold out, but interested individuals can join the waitlist in case spaces become available. Media members are invited to utilize this opportunity for b-roll.
