Rep. Delia C. Ramirez, currently serving Illinois’ 3rd congressional district, took to X (formerly Twitter) on March 27, 2025, to address several pressing issues. Ramirez, since replacing Marie Newman in 2023, has voiced concerns related to social services and fiscal policies affecting her constituents.

In a tweet, Ramirez announced the Social Security Administration's new policy on overpayments. "Starting today, the Social Security Administration will begin taking 100% of your check until all overpayments are repaid. If your benefits are taken, please reach out to my office. You have a right to appeal the decision," she wrote on March 27, 2025, urging constituents to contact her office if they experience any issues.

Ramirez further highlighted the financial dynamics of federal taxation for Illinois. She stated that, "The taxpayers of Illinois pay roughly $156 billion in federal taxes each year, making our state one of only nine in the nation that pay MORE in federal taxes than we receive in direct benefits," on March 27, 2025. This observation underscores the state's fiscal relationship with the federal government.

In another post on the same day, Ramirez criticized the Trump-Musk administration's policies, indicating their impact on essential services. "We know that housing is health care and nutritious food is medicine. The Trump-Musk administration does not care that families will be left on the street, forced to go hungry, and deprived of necessary care," Ramirez expressed her concerns regarding governmental priorities that she believes leave vulnerable families at risk.
