Congresswoman Delia C. Ramirez, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Illinois’ 3rd district, has expressed her opinions on recent matters in a series of tweets. Ramirez replaced former U.S. Congress member Marie Newman in 2023 and previously served in the Illinois House of Representatives from 2018 to 2022. Born in Chicago in 1983, Ramirez graduated from Northeastern Illinois University and resides in her hometown.
On March 28, 2025, Ramirez voiced her disapproval of a recent executive order, stating, "Today's executive order is a frontal assault on workers!" She emphasized that past efforts for workers' rights could be overturned by "Trump's attempt to end federal labor unions for his billionaire bosses," which she argues threatens all workers.
In another tweet on the same day, Ramirez challenged a decision made by ICE regarding a student, saying, "Contrary to what Secretary Rubio desires, expressing a political view Trump doesn't like isn't justification for ICE to detain and deport students." She joined several colleagues in demanding the release of a student named Rumeysa Ozturk.
Ramirez also announced an educational event for business owners in Illinois' 3rd district. On March 28, she tweeted, "Business owners in #IL03!... Join us for a virtual Know Your Rights workshop this Wednesday, April 5th at 6 pm!" This event aims to inform business owners and their employees about rights concerning immigration enforcement, with Spanish interpretation available.
