Cook County Sheriff's Office reports arrests and initiatives in recent tweets

The Cook County Sheriff's Office has issued a series of tweets detailing recent activity and initiatives undertaken by the department. These updates provide insight into their ongoing efforts in community safety and support.

On April 1, 2025, the Sheriff's Office reported that during a patrol in Sauk Village, investigators from the Organized Crime Division "arrested 19-year-old Bernani Ellis and 20-year-old Breaunna Ellis after conducting a routine traffic stop. Officers learned that both Bernani and Breaunna had active arrest warrants." The full post can be seen here.

The following day, the department outlined details of their Treatment Response Team (TRT). On April 2, 2025, they explained that the team "combines law enforcement resources with assistance from Licensed Clinical Social Workers to direct people to harm-reduction and treatment services for those suffering from substance abuse and mental health disorders." Later on April 2, 2025, the Sheriff's Office provided information about another arrest. This time, the Organized Crime Division, as part of the Sheriff’s Police 15th District Austin neighborhood initiative, "arrested 27-year-old Romario Leon following a routine traffic stop. Leon was found in possession of an illegal 9mm Polymer 80 'ghost' gun loaded with 20." The full post can be found here.
