Jan Schakowsky, who has served in the U.S. Congress representing Illinois' 9th district since 1999, shared her views on social issues through a series of tweets earlier this month. Schakowsky's tweets bring attention to affordable healthcare and education reforms.

In a tweet from April 2, 2025, Schakowsky highlighted financial struggles faced by constituents navigating high insulin costs. She wrote, "I have a list of people in my community who have rationed their insulin because they couldn't afford it. Trump and the current FTC don't care about these people. Lowering costs for the American people has taken a back seat to empowering billionaires. Trump's illegal attempt to".

Talking about her past experience as an educator, Schakowsky tweeted on April 3, 2025, "I was a Head Start teacher. Without Head Start, many of my students wouldn't otherwise have been able to access comprehensive early childhood education." This message underscores her apparent commitment to early childhood education access.

On the same day, Schakowsky expressed concerns regarding the potential closure of regional Head Start offices, including one in Chicago. She remarked, "Closing nearly half of the Head Start regional offices, including the office in Chicago, will have devastating impacts. I demand answers from this administration. All kids deserve access to a quality, affordable education."
