Chicago will host the second annual Preservation Expo at the Chicago Cultural Center on May 19, celebrating significant achievements in historic preservation. The event will feature more than 40 exhibitors providing various products and services. Participants include organizations such as the Chicago Bungalow Association, Landmarks Illinois, the Coalition of Black House Museums, and Harboe Architects.
This year, the event will also highlight the 25th Commission on Chicago Landmarks Preservation Excellence Awards. These awards recognize top preservation efforts that advanced through the commission over the past year.
"For anyone interested in the preservation and celebration of Chicago’s historic resources, the Preservation Expo offers a lot to learn, appreciate and enjoy,” DPD Commissioner Ciere Boatright said. Boatright's department staff supports the Commission on Chicago Landmarks and reviews construction permits for landmarked buildings.
Ana Belaval of WGN TV will emcee the gathering, which is organized by the Chicago Department of Planning and Development. Attendance is free, but advanced registration is necessary, and tickets are available online until supplies last.
More details can be found on the Chicago Preservation Expo's website.
