A proposal to create a new community plaza in East Garfield Park was introduced to the City Council by Mayor Brandon Johnson. The plan involves selling a quarter-acre of city-owned land.
The nonprofit organization Homan Housing LLC is set to purchase the land, which comprises five lots located at Harrison Street and Homan Avenue, for $3,575. The total value of these properties is assessed at $35,751.
The proposed project has an estimated cost of $200,000 and aims to transform the vacant site into a public space named the Homan Gateway.
