CHICAGO (May 30, 2025) – Chicago Fire FC and U.S. Soccer have announced that Homegrown midfielder Sergio Oregel Jr. has been selected for the U.S. U-20 Men’s National Team's upcoming international training camp in Cairo, Egypt, from June 2 to June 11.
This marks the sixth training camp for Oregel Jr. under the guidance of U-20 USMNT head coach Marko Mitrović as preparations continue for the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup. During this camp, the team is scheduled to play against Colombia on June 7 and Egypt on June 10.
Oregel Jr. participated in a domestic training camp with the U-20 USMNT in January, where they played a scrimmage against Nashville SC and trained with the senior U.S. Men’s National Team. He is among ten players on the roster who contributed to securing a spot for the U.S. at the U-20 FIFA World Cup by finishing as runners-up at the 2024 Concacaf U-20 Championship in Mexico.
In 2025, Oregel Jr., a native of Chicago, has been an essential part of Chicago Fire's midfield, starting all 13 matches he has played and logging a total of 1,072 minutes. He has recorded one assist and maintains an 86.5 percent pass accuracy rate this season.
