City of Wheaton Liquor Control Commission met May 8
Here are the minutes provided by the commission:
I. CALL TO ORDER AND ROLL CALL VOTE
Chair Pearse called the May 8, 2025 meeting of the Local Liquor Commission to order at 7:00 P.M. in the City Council Chambers of the Wheaton City Hall, 303 West Wesley Street and via Zoom.
Upon roll call, the following were present: Commissioner Brown, Commissioner Laird, Chair Pearse and Commissioner Whitmer. Absent: Commissioner Taylor. City Staff Present: James P. Kozik, Director of Planning and Economic Development.
II. PUBLIC COMMENT
There was no public comment.
III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES – March 13, 2025
Commissioner Brown moved and Commissioner Laird seconded a motion to approve the minutes of the March 13, 2025 Local Liquor Commission meeting as submitted. On a voice vote, all voted aye.
IV. NEW BUSINESS
Application for a Class M Liquor License – The Cottage Geneva, LLC d/b/a The Cottage Wheaton – 131 W. Wesley Street
Ms. Jonna Kelleher, owner of The Cottage Geneva, LLC d/b/a The Cottage Wheaton, was in attendance to present an application for a Class M Liquor License to the City so she may offer licensed specified products for sale by the bottle and glass to complement the houseware/entertaining/etc. offerings that are sold in her store located at 131 W. Wesley Street.
Ms. Kelleher stated that the products to be offered for sale are exclusively produced in the state of Michigan.
Ms. Kelleher stated that she and her employees will all be BASSET trained and will card everyone looking to purchasing alcohol.
Commissioner Brown then moved and Commissioner Whitmer seconded a motion to recommend to the Council that a Class M Liquor License be issued to The Cottage Geneva, LLC d/b/a The Cottage Wheaton at 131 W. Wesley Street. On a roll call vote, all voted aye.
Application for a Class R Liquor License – RGOH DB Wheaton, LLC d/b/a Drybar Wheaton – 2044 S. Naperville Road
Ms. Brandice Hampton, franchisee and owner of RGOH DB Wheaton, LLC d/b/a Drybar Wheaton, was in attendance to present an application for a Class R Liquor License (Full Service Salon and Spa Business) for her salon located at 2044 S. Naperville Road.
Ms. Hampton stated that she wishes to serve champagne at her recently opened salon to customers and patrons receiving contemporaneous salon services in accordance with the City’s Class R Liquor License requirements.
Ms. Hampton stated that she and her employees will all be BASSET trained and will card everyone looking to purchasing alcohol.
Commissioner Laird then moved and Commissioner Brown seconded a motion to recommend to the Council that a Class R Liquor License be issued to RGOH DB Wheaton, LLC d/b/a Drybar Wheaton at 2044 S. Naperville Road. On a roll call vote, all voted aye.
Application for a Class B Liquor License – Mook Mik, Inc. – d/b/a Simply Thai Bistro – 563 W. Liberty Drive
Mr. Theerawat Soramuk, owner of Mook Mik, Inc. – d/b/a Simply Thai Bistro, was in attendance to present an application for a Class B Liquor License (beer and wine) for his restaurant located at 563 W. Liberty Drive.
Mr. Soramuk stated that after operating the restaurant for nine years, he now wishes to serve beer and wine. Mr. Soramuk then described the training of his staff and carding policy of customers.
Commissioner Brown then moved and Commissioner Laird seconded a motion to recommend to the Council that a Class B Liquor License be issued to Mook Mik, Inc. – d/b/a Simply Thai Bistro at 563 W. Liberty Drive. On a roll call vote, all voted aye.
V. ADJOURNMENT
The meeting was adjourned at 7:15 P.M.
