The Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA) is organizing two free "Midway Airport Family Night" events at Midway International Airport this month. The initiative aims to provide families, especially those with children, an educational experience to help make airport travel easier and more enjoyable.

The first event is scheduled for Saturday, September 13, with sessions from 3 to 5:30 p.m. and from 4 to 6:30 p.m. A second event will be held on Tuesday, September 30, from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Both events are designed for children under the age of 18 who must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

CDA Commissioner Michael McMurray stated, “Few experiences are as magical for a child as their first flight — and much of that wonder begins before the plane ever leaves the ground. At Midway Airport Family Night, we want young travelers and their families to feel that same sense of excitement and confidence as they move through the airport. This event is a chance to explore the journey together — from check-in to boarding — and to show kids that flying isn’t just about the destination, it’s about the adventure of the whole trip.”

Registration for both events is available online at FlyChicago.com/Midway as well as through dedicated Eventbrite links for each date:

- Tuesday, Sept. 30: https://midway-airport-family-night-tickets-sept-30-2025.eventbrite.com/

During these family nights, customer experience experts from Midway Airport will join representatives from the Transportation Security Administration and airline partners. They will guide families through security procedures involving items like milk, juice, medications, food pouches, car seats, and strollers. The team will also address common questions regarding checking baby gear, baggage allowances, and gate-checking strollers in order to provide practical advice for parents and caregivers.

The CDA hopes these sessions will prepare families for future travel by familiarizing them with airport processes in a supportive environment.
