A letter from the office of the Mayor of Chicago called for a special meeting of the City Council to honor a former world leader.

Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s memo documents two items up for discussion, including a congratulatory resolution in regards to former president of Ireland, Mary Therese Winifred Robinson. The second agenda item is to present the Chicago Medal of Merit to Robinson.

The communication, dated Monday, was addressed to City Clerk Susana Mendoza requesting the meeting be held Wednesday morning in the City Council Chamber in City Hall.
