Public offered an education in school funding

Microphone 1000x667

An investigative non-profit group hoping to teach the public the basics of Illinois school funding is offering a free forum at Chicago's Roosevelt University on March 30.

The Better Government Association's (BGA) "Separate But Unequal School Funding in Illinois" forum will look at the state's hotly debated funding formula, which is currently under review in Springfield. Besides an overview of the topic, the forum will also present a panel of experts to talk about possible improvements to the formula and how it affects students.

Reservations are required for the event, which runs from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the university's Ganz Hall at 430 S. Michigan Ave.

More information is available by calling Annum Haider at (312) 821-9031 or emailing her ahaider@bettergov.org.

The BGA is a nonpartisan 501(c)(3) watchdog group that promotes government integrity, transparency and accountability. It seeks to expose fraud, corruption and waste.
