Here is the minutes provided by the Council:

1. Call to order and roll call: 6:07 meeting begins

2. Adoption of agenda: Nada suggests a change to the agenda—she suggests that we put it in “Old Business” so that we will be able to vote for it. We should also put in the agenda that we may need to go to closed session to discuss evaluation. Motion to accept Nada’s suggestion Jill seconds it (vote unanimous 8 to 0)

3. Approval of minutes from previous meetings: Nada makes a motion to accept minutes Theresa seconds it (vote unanimous 8 to 0)

a. Friends of Lincoln Park: Pledge drive is successful: FOLP is closing it out tonight. Brad Bane was hoping to get $50,000-60,000 and they are getting close to goal

b. Band, Orchestra and Choir—getting ready for their trip to Peoria, they have a bus and a fan bus

Pep band is back in swing. They are at girls’ basketball game playing

A1-2-timely updates to LSC about progress toward CIWP benchmarks

FOT Currently 95%, Attendance 92%,.5% less than last year at this time

9th grade team meeting monthly to monitor progress of potentially off track students, developing support plans to be implemented in class. Mr. Baker designed a new data base that includes BAG Report, Service Learning, and all reported missing assignments w. comments section so students can update status and report action taken. Leslie said there is a new website/database kind of thing that sounds like this that is called Otus. Leslie can ask them if they are willing to come and introduce their product to the LSC.

CPS may not allow us to purchase it because CPS is getting away from letting schools do things independently.

A4-6 safe and orderly environment

• JJ and staff have been working together under a model that is proving to help things be a little more peaceful

• Mr. Johnson and Mr. Jauch organized well attended holiday party. Improved communication and interaction between teaching and security staff improves follow up and interventions

Nada makes a motion to accept the financials with a change from 19604 to 19603 for Yearbook and Football Jill Pammler seconds (vote unanimous 10 to 0)

B1-4 provides professional development, instructional coaching, and other resources for staff to implement CCSS-MYP standards

Continuing with daily classroom visits and feedback aligned to our strategy focus areas. Study groups increasing number of strategy focused peer visits per cycle. D1-3, responds to concerns of families, engages parents and LSC in problem solving

E6-6 school environment that embraces diversity and cultural differences

ILT focusing on equity, how to support team leaders to have conversations about equity-- ILT is trying to incorporate the issue of equity into the study group learning cycle

College Update

4 Posse Winners, 1 Questbridge

Students have been offered admission to Northwestern (4), Michigan (3), UChicago (2) Dartmouth (1), UIUC (71). 82% have completed apps. Nearly all selective and highly selective eligible have done multiple apps and more than 90% are done. Next focus will be on selective and somewhat selective eligible. 15-20 students per day worked on apps during winter break days lab was open

Students mad about new attendance rules-10 unexcused absences from classes

Ceiling in Ms. Douglas’s room is crumbling

Lack of building cleanliness is an ongoing complaint

Tom is back and ready to go. Tom and JJ are partnering on proactive work. Jane asked if Tom can come in and give us numbers for UMOJA

•Nada thanked Boraz for doing the holiday season JibJab

•Acknowledge birthdays for staff—Ms. Delgado could provide us with list of staff’s birthdays and maybe congratulations for new babies.

•Book club for parents and staff—we will see how Fences goes. Leslie volunteered relative’s theatre for showing of Fences if we want (in Rogers Park)
