Gubernatorial candidate J.B. Pritzker would rather pocket money he doesn't deserve than help those who need it most, former Illinois GOP Chairman Pat Brady suggested recently.
Brady talked about the Chicago Sun-Times' allegations that the Democrat dodged property taxes on a Chicago mansion he bought near his home.
The paper reported that Pritzker appealed the assessment of the mansion, which he purchased for $3.7 million, on the grounds that it is uninhabitable. While Pritzker upgraded the exterior of the mansion, it has no longer working bathrooms or working kitchen, he said.

Pritzker requested relief on the bill for that property because it was unoccupied. Through adjustments and reductions to the property tax bill on his main residence, Pritzker managed to save $230,000 last year, the paper said.
“It’s one set of rules for people like J.B. Pritzker and another set of rules for the rest of us,” Brady said. “J.B. Pritzker is a typical Chicago politician who engages in a con game to benefit himself at the expense of Chicago schoolchildren.”
The Illinois GOP also published photos from the property listing of the mansion, showing that it appeared to be in good condition when Pritzker bought it.
