Citizens for Rauner recently put out a new ad promoting Gov. Bruce Rauner and his accomplishments during his first term, positioning him as the candidate pushing back against House Speaker Michael Madigan (D-Chicago).

“Four decades of Mike Madigan and nothing but corruption and failure,” the ad says. “But Bruce Rauner is fighting to destroy the Madigan Machine.”

A release accompanying the ad highlighted Rauner’s work to dismantle the “Madigan Machine” and effect real change in Illinois. The release and ad noted some of Rauner’s key achievements in office, including efforts to clean up Springfield and push back against movements between government and lobbying and limit the influence of big spenders in the Statehouse. Rauner has also worked to to bring jobs into the state and successfully lowered unemployment, according to the release.

“Rauner closed the corrupt revolving door between government and lobbyists, fought big spenders and vetoed Madigan’s massive tax hike, brought in thousands of new jobs and unemployment is down for the first time in years,” the ad says. “Attacking Madigan’s Machine, fighting big spenders, creating jobs. Bruce Rauner, because Illinois is worth fighting for.”
