Northwest Side GOP Club taps Simpson as precinct committeeman

Nws

Kerri Urbanski, the Northwest Side GOP Club's deputy committeeman of the 45th Ward, has installed Marine veteran Robert Simpson as precinct committeeman for the 40th precinct.

Simpson, a Chicago firefighter, served in the Marine Corps for eight years, including a tour of Iraq in 2008.

“The 41 precinct committeemen of the NWS GOP Club are comprised primarily of first responders and local trade union members,” the organization said in a press release. “The club is proud of its blue-collar core. That is why we have recruited two candidates for public office who best represent the interests of working class Northwest Siders."

Chicago Police Department Sgt. Ammie Kessem is the Republican in the 19th House District and former Chicago school teacher Amanda Biela is the GOP’s candidate in the 15th House District.

“The Northwest Side GOP Club firmly believes that real citizens with real life experiences should be running for and elected to public offices,” the release added. “We reject the idea that machine insiders and the relatives of elected officials should be granted public offices generation after generation.”

Simpson graduated from St. Johns Northwestern Military Academy and attended Marquette University. He returned to Chicago in 2009 and has been a member of the fire department since then.

"I am grateful for the nomination and appointment of precinct committeeman and look forward to the continuation of conservative values,” Simpson said in the release. “Thank you Ammie Kessem and Amanda Biela for showing strong leadership and proving service to one’s community never stops. I look forward to growing our community and honest discussion."
