Illinois Guardianship and Advocacy Commission Chicago Region met April 3.
Here is the minutes provided by the Commission:
Present: Ashley Casati, Regina Pessagno, Alicia Chin, Andrea Vernon-Cwik, Michael Shukis and Eric Mathiasen.

The regularly scheduled meeting of the Human Rights Authority, Chicago Region was called to order at 5:15 p.m. by the Chicago Region Chair, Ashley Casati.
It was determined that a quorum was present and that appropriate business could be conducted.
Jon read the confidentiality statement.
Minutes: Mike moved to approve Minutes from the February 20, 2018 meeting as drafted. Alicia seconded and the motion carried.
Communications: Jon is waiting for final ok to schedule a second round of interviews for the Coordinator’s position.
New Business
Ratifications for case acceptance, report acceptance and response acceptance, closure and publish:
None were presented.
New complaints:
18-030-9028 A resident of a nursing home has been petitioned for involuntary admission twice by the nursing home for complaining about them; also, that her personal mail is being held.
Previously tabled pending receipt of a release, which has still not been received. Mike moved to table case acceptance pending a release of information one more time. Gina seconded and the motion carried.
Unfinished Business
Pursuant to the Guardianship and Advocacy Act (20 ILCS 3955/21) and the Open Meetings Act (5 ILCS 120/2), Alicia moved to enter closed session at 5:40 p.m. Mike seconded and the motion carried. The purpose of the closed session was for discussion on any case assignments, case progress, draft reports, responses and case closures (17-030-9027, 18-9002, 9004, 9012, 9014, 9016 and 9021). The HRA returned to open session at 6:18 p.m., having taken no votes in the closed session.
Case assignments:
No new cases were opened.
Reports for acceptance:
None were presented.
Accept responses, close and publish:
17-030-9027 (Riveredge Hospital) Annie moved to accept the response, close and publish the case. Alicia seconded and the motion carried.
18-030-9002 (St. Mary’s Hospital) A response was not required. Annie moved to close and publish the case. Alicia seconded and the motion carried.
18-030-9004 (U of I Hospital) Mike moved to accept the response, close and publish the case. Eric seconded and the motion carried.
18-030-9016 (Read MHC) Annie moved to close the case as it was resolved informally. Alicia seconded and the motion carried.
