Donors were generous in January, giving $7,481,460 to Chicago’s 14 mayoral candidates, according to the Illinois State Board of Elections.
Bill Daley received the most with $1,923,909 in contributions reported last month, including six individual donations of $100,000 each.
In December, donors gave $4,058,553 to the candidates, with Toni Preckwinkle receiving the most. Of the $1,694,243 Preckwinkle reported that month, $1 million was transferred in from the SEIU Illinois Council PAC Fund.
Overall, between July 1, 2018 and Jan. 31, 2019, the candidates received $18,832,904.
Under state law, that money can be in the form of individual donations, in-kind donations, transfers from other campaign committee funds and PACs, loans, or other receipts.
