Chicago alderman candidate Gilbert Villegas returns $2,000 contribution from Benchmark Construction

The campaign committee of Chicago alderman candidate Gilbert Villegas, Friends of Gilbert Villegas, returned a $2,000 contribution from Benchmark Construction on Nov. 19, according to the Illinois State Board of Elections.

Candidates sometimes refuse or return contributions because they do not want their campaign to be affiliated with the donor. Benchmark Construction has not made any other contributions to Gilbert Villegas in the past 12 months.
