Near West Side home prices rise in the first quarter of 2017

The median sale price of a home sold in the first quarter of 2017 in Near West Side, a Chicago neighborhood, rose by $64,000 while total sales increased by 1.6%, according to BlockShopper.com.

From January through March of 2017, there were 63 homes sold, with a median sale price of $355,000 - a 22% increase over the $291,000 median sale price for the same period of the previous year. There were 62 homes sold in Near West Side in the first quarter of 2016.

The median sales tax in Near West Side for 2017 was $4,713.70. In 2016, the median sales tax was $4,448.20. This marks an increase of 6%. The effective property tax rate, using the median property tax and median home sale price as the basis, is 1.3%.
