South Loop home prices rise in the first quarter of 2017

The median sale price of a home sold in the first quarter of 2017 in South Loop, a Chicago neighborhood, rose by $41,750 while total sales decreased by 7.7%, according to BlockShopper.com.

From January through March of 2017, there were 179 homes sold, with a median sale price of $350,000 - a 13.5% increase over the $308,250 median sale price for the same period of the previous year. There were 194 homes sold in South Loop in the first quarter of 2016.

The median sales tax in South Loop for 2017 was $3,990.71. In 2016, the median sales tax was $3,786.20. This marks an increase of 5.4%. The effective property tax rate, using the median property tax and median home sale price as the basis, is 1.1%.
