Incumbent Alderman Ariel E. Reboyras retained his 30th Ward post on Tuesday night, garnering 51.92 percent of the votes (3,999) to challenger’s Jessica W. Gutierrez's 48.08 percent (3,703) with all 32 precincts reporting, according to the Chicago Board of Election Commissioners.

Reboyras, long a loyalist to outgoing Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, has served as alderman for the Northwest Side ward since 2003. He chairs the Committee on Public Safety, which oversees the Chicago Police Department,

Gutierrez is the daughter of retired U.S. Rep. Luis Gutierrez. She most recently was a campaign field director for U.S. Rep. Jesus “Chuy” Garcia, who replaced her father in Congress.

The 30th Ward includes parts of  Belmont Cragin, Old Irving Park and Portage Park. 

Voter turnout was extremely light Tuesday with only 495,328 ballots cast overall among 1,592,658 registered voters, according to the election board.
