Challenger Felix Cardona Jr. unseated 31st Ward Alderman Milly Santiago in Tuesday's election. 

With 40 of 41 precincts reporting, Cardona had 54.36 percent of the vote (3,378) to Santiago's 45.6 percent (2,836), according to the Chicago Board of Election Commissioners.

Cardona formerly worked for the Cook County Board of Review and the Cook County Assessor’s Office.

Santiago is a former television reporter at Telemundo and Univision. She was vying for her second term as alderman.

The 30th Ward includes parts of Hermosa, Belmont Cragin, Portage Park and Logan Square.

Voter turnout was extremely light Tuesday with only 495,328 ballots cast overall among 1,592,658 registered voters, according to the election board.
