Challenger Stephanie Coleman unseated 16th Ward Alderman Toni Foulkes in Tuesday's election. 

With 33 of 36 precincts reporting, Coleman had 66.70 percent of the vote (3,305) to Foulkes' 33.3 percent (1,650), according to the Chicago Board of Election Commissioners.

The daughter of former 16th Ward Alderman Shirley Coleman, Stephanie Coleman is the vice chair of the Cook County Young Democrats. She barely lost to Foulkes in the 2015 election to represent the Southwest Side ward. With her win, the 30-year-old becomes the youngest black woman on the Chicago City Council.

Foulkes had served as an alderman since 2007. She previously represented the 15th Ward until the boundaries were redrawn in 2015. 

The 16th Ward includes parts of Englewood, Gage Park, West Englewood and Chicago Lawn.

Voter turnout was extremely light Tuesday with only 495,328 ballots cast overall among 1,592,658 registered voters, according to the election board.
