Galewood home prices rise in 2017

The median sale price of a home sold in 2017 in Galewood, a Chicago neighborhood, rose by $10,000 while total sales increased by 9.6%, according to BlockShopper.com.

From January through December of 2017, there were 160 homes sold, with a median sale price of $240,000 - a 4.3% increase over the $230,000 median sale price for the previous year. There were 146 homes sold in Galewood in 2016.

The median sales tax in Galewood for 2017 was $4,243. In 2016, the median sales tax was $4,107. This marks an increase of 3.3%. The effective property tax rate, using the median property tax and median home sale price as the basis, is 1.8%.
