Back of the Yards home prices rise in 2017

The median sale price of a home sold in 2017 in Back of the Yards, a Chicago neighborhood, rose by $12,750 while total sales increased by 3.6%, according to BlockShopper.com.

From January through December of 2017, there were 228 homes sold, with a median sale price of $57,750 - a 28.3% increase over the $45,000 median sale price for the previous year. There were 220 homes sold in Back of the Yards in 2016.

The median sales tax in Back of the Yards for 2017 was $2,088. In 2016, the median sales tax was $2,046. This marks an increase of 2.1%. The effective property tax rate, using the median property tax and median home sale price as the basis, is 3.6%.
