Former state university employee Averyhart Fullard paid in $141K to pension fund, could collect $3.46M in retirement

Former state university employee Vera Averyhart Fullard, who retired in February 2017, saved $141,442 toward a pension over 25 years working for state universities, State Universities Retirement System of Illinois records show.

Over 30 years of retirement, Averyhart Fullard would collect as much as $3.46 million, according to a projection by Local Government Information Services (LGIS), which publishes Chicago City Wire.

The projection assumes Averyhart Fullard received $72,713 in the first year of retirement, then 3 percent annual increases thereafter, compounded.

After 2 years of retirement, Averyhart Fullard will have already received $147,607 in retirement benefits, or more than the sum total of the retiree's contributions to the state pension fund.
