Former state university employee Baquet paid in $33K to pension fund, could collect $328K in retirement

Former state university employee Yvette Baquet, who retired in October 2018, saved $33,123 toward a pension over 12 years working for state universities, State Universities Retirement System of Illinois records show.

Over 30 years of retirement, Baquet would collect as much as $328,270, according to a projection by Local Government Information Services (LGIS), which publishes Chicago City Wire.

The projection assumes Baquet received $6,900 in the first year of retirement, then 3 percent annual increases thereafter, compounded.

After 5 years of retirement, Baquet will have already received $36,633 in retirement benefits, or more than the sum total of the retiree's contributions to the state pension fund.
