Former state university employee Tassler paid in $26K to pension fund, could collect $377K in retirement

Former state university employee Barbara Tassler, who retired in March 2017, saved $25,848 toward a pension over 10 years working for state universities, State Universities Retirement System of Illinois records show.

Over 30 years of retirement, Tassler would collect as much as $377,316, according to a projection by Local Government Information Services (LGIS), which publishes Chicago City Wire.

The projection assumes Tassler received $7,930 in the first year of retirement, then 3 percent annual increases thereafter, compounded.

After 4 years of retirement, Tassler will have already received $33,176 in retirement benefits, or more than the sum total of the retiree's contributions to the state pension fund.
