Former state university employee Czapar paid in $27K to pension fund, could collect $372K in retirement

Former state university employee Carol Czapar, who retired in May 2018, saved $27,203 toward a pension over 1 years working for state universities, State Universities Retirement System of Illinois records show.

Over 30 years of retirement, Czapar would collect as much as $372,344, according to a projection by Local Government Information Services (LGIS), which publishes Chicago City Wire.

The projection assumes Czapar received $7,826 in the first year of retirement, then 3 percent annual increases thereafter, compounded.

After 4 years of retirement, Czapar will have already received $32,742 in retirement benefits, or more than the sum total of the retiree's contributions to the state pension fund.
